2021 Vintage Recap: The season started off with very little rain, leading to the 2nd year of drought conditions in Napa Valley, Harvest began early with white wine grapes picked on July 30th and red wine grapes beginning on August 31. While concerning in the long term, the drought of 2021 resulted in a more natural load on the vines, requiring less pruning and dropping of fruit. The resulting grapes are packed full of flavor. 2021 and it is smaller yields per vine and smaller berry size resulted in another amazing vintage from Napa Valley.
Tasting Notes:. Wine from two worlds. Mountain Top Cabernet and Valley Floor blending varietals. The structure and backbone from 40-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon Vines and the silk from the traditional Boudreaux varietals; 50% new and 50% neutral barrels. Opulent layers of black cherries, kirsch, sage, cocoa powder, blackberry cobbler, and toasty oak present a marvelous fruit forward wine backed by fine grained tannins leading into a soft and sensual finish.
