2021 Vintage Recap: The season started off with very little rain, leading to the 2nd year of drought conditions in Napa Valley, Harvest began early with white wine grapes picked on July 30th and red wine grapes beginning on August 31. While concerning in the long term, the drought of 2021 resulted in a more natural load on the vines, requiring less pruning and dropping of fruit. The resulting grapes are packed full of flavor. 2021 and it is smaller yields per vine and smaller berry size resulted in another amazing vintage from Napa Valley.
Tasting Notes: The 2021 Pinot Noir is a new varietal for Witchery, and we are delightfully surprised at how wonderfully this came together. It goes without saying that no other grape delivers a wine with such heady perfume, silky texture, and primal, earthy flavor. Whimsical aromas of dark red cherries, wild blackberries, incense, truffles, baking spice, and cola meld effortless into a plush mouthful full of ripe fruits and sultry spice, all framed by silky tannins that glide across the palate.
